Privacy Policy

HerdHawk is cattle pregnancy-checking and reproduction-tracking software for ranches. This policy explains what information the HerdHawk app (Android and web) and this website handle, why, and the choices you have. In short: we collect what's needed to run your ranch account, we don't show ads, and we don't use analytics trackers.

Information you give us

  • Account details: your email address, password (stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider) and the display name you choose.
  • Ranch records: what you and your ranch's members enter, such as ranch name and settings, herds and pastures, herd moves, animals and tags, breeding cycles, pregnancy-check sessions and results, calvings and calves, reproductive events, notes and reminders.
  • Health records: the animals' treatments, vaccinations and other health entries, with products, doses, withdrawal dates and follow-ups as you enter them. These are about your cattle, not about people.
  • Finance records: the ranch's income and expenses that owners and managers enter, by category, for a herd or the whole ranch, with amounts and head counts.
  • Ranch membership and team: which ranches you belong to and your role on each (owner, manager, worker or viewer). When an owner invites someone, we keep the email address the invitation is for and its role until the invitation is used, cancelled or expires.

Information stored on your device

So HerdHawk can work without a connection, your ranch's records and changes you haven't synced yet are kept in your browser or app storage on the device, along with your sign-in session. Clearing the browser's site data or uninstalling the app removes them from that device; changes not yet synced are lost.

  • Notifications: the Android app makes reminder notifications on the phone itself, from the records on it, at the time you choose. No push service is used and no notification token is collected. Your notification choices stay on that phone.
  • PDF and CSV files: reports and exports are made on your device and go only where you save or send them.
  • Search and RFID readers: searching happens on your device. A reader in keyboard mode types the tag number like a keyboard; HerdHawk doesn't use Bluetooth itself.

What we don't collect

  • No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
  • No analytics or tracking scripts, in the app or on this website.
  • No location data, contacts, photos or microphone access. Invitations are sent by you, with your own apps; HerdHawk doesn't send email or read your contacts.
  • No payment card details. Purchases are handled by Google Play under Google's terms and privacy policy.

How we use information

Only to provide HerdHawk: to sign you in, store and sync your ranch's records between your devices and your ranch members, enforce who can see and change what, and respond when you contact support. We do not sell your information, and we do not use your ranch records for advertising.

Who can see your ranch records

Only signed-in members of that ranch, according to their role. This is enforced on the server with row-level security, not just hidden in the app.

  • Members see each other's display names and roles. Email addresses of a ranch's members and invitations are shown only to the ranch's owners.
  • Finance records are seen only by the ranch's owners and managers.

Our service providers process data only to run the service:

  • Supabase provides authentication and the database where synced records are stored.
  • Cloudflare hosts this website and the HerdHawk web app.
  • Google Play sells and delivers the Android app.

We may disclose information if required by law.

Keeping and deleting your information

We keep your account and ranch records while your account is active. You can export your records to CSV, or save reports as PDF, at any time from the app.

To delete your account, use Settings, Ranch and account, Delete my account in the app, or email support@herdhawk.com from the address on the account. Support replies by email to confirm, then deletes the account within 30 days. Deleting it removes your sign-in (email address, password and display name), your place on every ranch, and any ranch that only you belong to, with all its records. A ranch you share with others keeps its records, including the ones you entered. Details: Delete your account.

Security

Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Access to records is limited by ranch and role on the server. Data stored on your own device is protected by your device's lock, so keep your phone locked.

Children

HerdHawk is a working tool for ranch businesses and isn't directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, let users know in the app or by email.
